About Electronic City
Bangalore's original IT township on Hosur Road
Electronic City was set up in 1978 by KEONICS, the Karnataka electronics corporation, on an idea of its first chairman R. K. Baliga, and grew into one of India's best-known IT hubs with around 200 tech campuses, including Infosys, Wipro, TCS and Biocon. It lies on Hosur Road, linked to Silk Board by a 10 km elevated expressway that opened in 2010, and since 2025 by the Yellow Line metro. Its four phases mix office campuses with large residential communities, making team lunches, office celebrations and family parties everyday occasions here.
